How To Overcome Adversity to Become A Part of The All In Nation w Carlos Reyes

Episode 505. “I was born in Mexico to extreme poverty, extreme poverty. My my mother, she definitely was the visionary in our family because she knew she knew that her kids were not going to have a future in the poverty that we were in. And when I say poverty, brother, I mean, like I was saying earlier, dirt floors, dirt roads, you know, about taking showers, kind of a bucket, you know, because we don’t have any running water, no toilets, no showers, you know, washboard outside with my grandma. My mom used to wash her clothes on a washboard. So that’s how I grew up. And my mother just said you know what this is like? This is, man, God bless her. You know, thank God I retired her at twenty seventeen. That was like a lifetime. I’ve dreamed about that day since I was five years old of retiring. Right. So, my mother, she’s like, you know what, no. I’m going to take my kids to where they have an opportunity to to be someone or be something, you know, and sure thing. You know, she came over to the States, United States of America. She went to California first. She worked in the fields. She worked out in the fields. She got amnesty at some point, you know, her paperwork was given to her because she was a field worker. And after a year later, she she left. She went back for my brother, myself, and she tried to sneak us into a sewer system. We failed. We got kicked out. Forty eight hours later, my mom, she doesn’t her perseverance and her perseverance was crazy, right? She doesn’t quit. She was like, OK, let’s regroup 48 hours. Let’s go back home. This time we make it. You know, she’s carrying my little brother on her and her and her arms. And she’s she’s dragging me with her right arm through the sewer system in San Ysidro. It’s in the California border live. We get to Haskanita. We only last about two, two and a half years financially. It just it was just too much single mom with two children. And then we failed financially. Went back to Mexico. I went back to Mexico. It was fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade. And my mom, my mother and I, we had a plan. We’re like, you know what? Let’s put some money together and let’s try it again. Right now, you have this proof of concept. I and a brother, when you’ve seen what’s on the other side, when you’ve seen the United States of America, right. When you see, like just the capitalism, the opportunities here, you know, the people, everything. Right. There’s just nothing like it. So when we went back, we were like, we don’t want to be part of this world anymore. We got a little taste of this other world and this other world. It’s sweet. It’s like the land of milk and honey.” -Carlos Reyes

Transcription

Tersh Blissett: [00:00:15] Hello, everyone, out there in podcast world, we’re having a great day. You’re listening to or watching the Service Business Mastery Podcast. I’m your host, Tersh Blissett. Today we have Carlos Reyes and I could tell you we’re going to talk about one thing, but I’d be lying if I said that because pre-report, pre-report call, we’ve already we’ve talked on so many different topics. And it’s super awesome because I consider myself a serial entrepreneur and have have owned several service businesses and started service businesses bootstrapped and everything else. But this guy here is like the ultimate serial entrepreneur. And I’m super excited to to pick his brain for the next half hour or so. With that being said, welcome to the show called Brother.

Carlos Reyes: [00:00:58] Thank you for having me. I know a way to continue our conversation. I feel like it’s going to be very fruitful, not only for us, but anybody that’s listening.

Tersh Blissett: [00:01:07] Absolutely. So tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, what you what you kind of have going on, I mean, it’s a pretty extensive background environment, so if I could say so myself.

Carlos Reyes: [00:01:17] Thank you, brother. So I’ll keep my story to about, I would say, 60 seconds, 90 seconds. Even though people absolutely love the underdog story that I carry. Right. I was born in Mexico.

Carlos Reyes: [00:01:31] Extreme poverty, extreme poverty.

Carlos Reyes: [00:02:59] We failed. We got kicked out. Forty eight hours later, my mom, she doesn’t her perseverance and her perseverance was crazy, right? She just quit. It’s sweet. It’s like the land of milk and honey.

Carlos Reyes: [00:04:16] So we’re like, OK, let’s just put our heads together. I’m going to buy groceries and work on tips as a nine-year-old. And she said, I’m going to go work at the resort cleaning hotel, hotel rooms, let’s put our money together and then we’ll try Phenix, Arizona, because it’s not as expensive as California. Sure thing. We save up enough money. She came over here. She went back for me one at a time now. No one on one one. One son at a time. You know, the first time it was both, you know, it was very difficult financially. She learned. We learned, she brought me over. She paid a guy twenty five dollars to jump me through a hole in the fence. And Nogales brought me up to Phenix. And here we are. You know, I became a after spending half of my life, more than half of my life as an illegal immigrant here or illegal alien, whatever you want to call it. You know, it took me a very long time to become a citizen. This great country, and then again, once I was of legal status, I worked in corporate America for a very long time and I just knew that I knew that I just I always I always had that just push of, you know, this ambition to want to be more and do more, especially for everything that my mom had done for me. You know, I wanted to be the person to change the financial history and trajectory of my family’s existence.

Carlos Reyes: [00:05:45] So I said, you know what, I I left that job of that job. I was it was a pretty comfortable job. You know, I was there for a very long time and I had a very high ranking position and I was making seventy thousand dollars a year, which I know that wasn’t bad. You know, I wasn’t bad. And, you know, I went all-in kind of like with the HATAM where now this is all the nation with the little this is our our flag, all the nation, God, family hustle here on the side. These are our core values and principles. So anyway, I went all in and I built a real company investment company from the ground. Remember, you asked me like, well, did you have like some angel investor venture capitalists? How did you do this? How are you flipping houses in the entire country now? Right, right. Yeah, I said no brother started with the one bandit. One bandit sign changed everything. I was outputting out bandit signs for six months. Twenty four hundred bandit signs is what it took me to get you my first real estate deal. And guess what? It’s I didn’t have the money to buy the house. I just found the person who was willing to sell me an off-market, this kind of property.

Carlos Reyes: [00:06:56] So then I so I found that house. I put that on the contract, and then I brought it over to somebody who I knew had the money to flip it. And all I did was I I signed I have signed up the rights, the rights to that property.

Carlos Reyes: [00:07:12] So this person and I made my paycheck. I was in the middle, but I was like the what were you call me or something like a bird. Like a bird dog fight. Right. So that’s how it started for me, man. And then after that, I’ve been able to build this empire of twenty seven companies, and I own a ten thousand square foot building here in Midtown Phenix that I purchased in December of twenty nineteen. I have hundreds of people that work under me through throughout the conglomerate of what is our companies. Right. Yeah. So it’s been a beautiful journeyman. It’s again I’m living the American dream and that’s why my profile says I am the American dream, because I’m not even I wasn’t I’m not even born in this country.

Tersh Blissett: [00:07:56] Right. Yeah. I mean, that’s that’s the ultimate dream that so many people have that like you’re like you see America from the outside and then you get a taste of it and you come over and then you you really have made something of yourself, which is amazing.

Carlos Reyes: [00:08:10] I mean, people take what we have here for granted.

Tersh Blissett: [00:08:14] Oh, yeah. So much so.

Carlos Reyes: [00:08:16] Right. So many people take it for granted. I was not about to take this for granted. You know, it’s wild.

Tersh Blissett: [00:08:22] How coming from the outside in, and you’re like, OK, I’m not taking this for granted. All I and is someone else who has been here like middle, middle, middle class and you’re like, oh woe is me, I have so hard. And then you’re like, oh man, you have no idea…

Carlos Reyes: [00:08:40] There’s not enough grit.

Tersh Blissett: [00:08:43] So tell me, what is https://allinnation.com What is that?

Carlos Reyes: [00:08:46] All In Nation was started, it was started as an entrepreneurship like an entrepreneur movement trying right back in twenty fifteen. I started all in nation and it was just an entrepreneur like an entrepreneur movement. All innovation, dotcom. Why? Because I wanted to find like-minded, driven individuals that I can connect with. So I built this, built this, this company, this, this movement kind of like a Ten X and you see all these, you see all these, these movements out there. That’s what it is. It’s a movement. It’s a tribe. And that’s why I started I wanted to I wanted to attract people at the same principles and drive in core values that I have. That’s how this started. And I have a brother when I tell you that we’ve we’ve been able to impact change thousands of people’s lives, it’s I mean, there are so many people.

Tersh Blissett: [00:09:48] So do you find it? You focus on a lot of real estate people, people who are starting in real estate?

Carlos Reyes: [00:09:55] Yeah. So it started with real estate education, right? It started with real estate education. And then it kind of transition and shifted to a personal development type of movement, becoming the best versions of ourselves. Right. Tapping into the highest. Level of ourselves, it just shifted into that, you know, becoming the best husband, father, son, brother, businessman, partner. That’s what has shifted out to be. That’s what we stand on now.

Tersh Blissett: [00:10:31] That’s what’s up. So, predominantly are the members in that or part of the people that follow this?

Tersh Blissett: [00:10:39] The tribe members, the tribe members that are the business owners?

Carlos Reyes: [00:10:45] They’re either business owners or they’re aspiring business owners.

Tersh Blissett: [00:10:50] Gotcha, gotcha. That’s what I was kind of curious about so basically, you’re surrounding yourself with a bunch of go-getters and people who want to learn how you’ve done what you’ve done and implement that in their lives.

Carlos Reyes: [00:11:02] Yes, yes. Yes. That’s what it is. And mission accomplished so far. You know, mission accomplished. You know, I started brother, I remember it started with like five people. It was like a church, you know, like five people then like those five people told like five other people. And then next thing you know, we have thousands of people that are part of our community. Now, are y’all meeting like like heaven, like brother, we’re about to have, um, we’re actually hosting a mastermind for our members in La Hoya this weekend. Oh, nice. Yeah, it’s going to be fun. So, I mean, education during the day and then, like, you know, leisure and the evening.

Tersh Blissett: [00:11:41] So it’s in person. You’re able to do that in person that, you know, with everything going on, I have to ask that you know this.

Carlos Reyes: [00:11:50] I get it, brother. I have I had COVID-19 in November. And for the most part, we, I believe, are the event coordinator Cartney, who works with us here. I believe she’s getting like the rapid testing going with her. So, yeah, she’s going to do her best to keep us safe for sure.

Tersh Blissett: [00:12:13] Cool deal, I love that? That’s really cool. With that being said, you have twenty-seven companies right now, is that right?

Carlos Reyes: [00:12:21] Yes, sir.

Tersh Blissett: [00:12:23] Twenty-seven. So at these companies they some of them were created out of necessity or they were created because of other. You did the solution to a problem that you might have had with with your larger companies, is that correct.

Carlos Reyes: [00:12:40] Yes, actually you know what my CFO earlier, uh, she sent me a structure of like S corp. We have five different escorts. That is the umbrella to some of our other companies. OK, she sent me this earlier. It’s funny. It’s just a coincidence, right, that she sent me all this earlier with, like our escorts. I’m about to tell you how many of those companies are service-driven.

Carlos Reyes: [00:13:00] Ok, OK. All right. One. Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, OK, there’s 11 there, 11 service providers. Really? Wow, those are real estate and none of them their production company. Nope. None of them. They’re no. So where are we at 11, 12, 13, 14 out of twenty-seven are service providers?

Tersh Blissett: [00:13:38] Wow, so did you, I mean, is it because of not having adequate service providers before or supplementary businesses before, or was it that the desire to just create another business rather than paying someone?

Carlos Reyes: [00:13:52] Ultimately, I believe brother was a mixture of both. It was like, you know, I’ll give you an example. We have a company called https://magnusdigital.com/ It’s a pay-per-click paperclip company. It’s a digital marketing agency. And, you know, we saw the need we were doing pay per click for with some other like with certain campaign managers and different companies. And we just expectations were not met. So what did we do? We launched a company with a person that had worked at Google for ten years. Wow. His name is Dave. Right. Hey, Dave, we’re interested in the launch of this company. We understand it’s going to cost this amount of money. We probably won’t see a return until maybe about 14, 15 months. Are you when he was in. And that company is going to do over seven figures this year. Actually, the hold is at seven figures last year for the first time. Twenty-twenty. We launched this company in twenty-eighteen. It took us so twenty-eighteen. It took us two years to reach our first seven figures and in profits.

Tersh Blissett: [00:14:58] Holy cow. So not only are you utilizing these companies, but you’re also farming them out to the general public as well. So it’s not.

Carlos Reyes: [00:15:06] Absolutely. We have about sixty-three active clients with that company.

Tersh Blissett: [00:15:11] Nice. That’s what’s it. That’s cool. I mean I love that the go-getter in the drive that you have instead of just saying woe is me, like there’s nobody out there that’s going to solve my problems, I’ll just deal with them the best of the worst-case scenarios. You hell that I’m just going to make another company.

Carlos Reyes: [00:15:26] I’m very…brother…we don’t get to where we are by not having certain expectations of of of the people we surround ourselves with.

Tersh Blissett: [00:15:36] Yeah. Yeah. That I love that. That’s really cool, I love the proximity, the rule of proximity, and that you surround yourself with people who you aspire to be like. And so I’m assuming that that’s a lot of what all nation is as well. The power proximity.

Carlos Reyes: [00:15:57] Yes, it’s a tribe. And everybody for the most part been like it’s been a beautiful journey for to see people like over the past two or three years just become, you know, millionaires into their respective state industries. It’s a beautiful thing. You know, we’ve seen so many people become seven-figure earners. And it’s a beautiful thing. People that at some point had jobs. You know, they had jobs when they came to us. And then now, you know, they’re running their businesses and making seven figures. It’s a beautiful thing to do.

Tersh Blissett: [00:16:28] That’s awesome. I love that. Where can people learn more about you, connect with you, follow you? What’s the best place for us to go?

Carlos Reyes: [00:16:36] You know, brother to I believe that the quickest way to get a hold of me is through Instagram. Carlos Reyes, Reyes, Instagram, I’m very active on. They’re very active with my direct messaging. Yeah, I’m just very active on there.

Tersh Blissett: [00:16:51] So I love hearing that because it’s not I don’t like we all do Instagram, but in the service industry it’s more of like, oh, let’s take pictures of AC units or and it’s kind of cliché ish. And I love hearing this year you’re on Instagram and you’re super active on it and and that’s a good way to connect.

Carlos Reyes: [00:17:10] Absolutely.

Tersh Blissett: [00:17:12] Is there anything that I missed? I didn’t ask that we would totally value.

Carlos Reyes: [00:17:19] No, brother. One of my purposes, it changed, so our lives and our purpose changes, right? And in January of twenty nineteen, my purpose changed to actually I said, you know what? I’m going to serve the community on the serving society. I was talking to God and I said the way that I want to be your vessel, just use me. How do you want me to serve? And when, when when I started to ask how, how how do you want me to serve? Not like what I wanted my life to change. I started. It’s like the more people I help. Like I have I have a I can say this with all with complete transparency, I have a very solid reputation and the and the real estate investment world. Yeah. And I believe that the reason it’s not because I, I flipped over a thousand houses if that’s not it, it’s because I have helped a lot of people. That’s kind of where my reputation is.

Carlos Reyes: [00:18:27] You know, I, I feel it. I see it. You know, I, I’m not one of these dudes that comes in and demands, you know, demands respect. Like I come in and someone sees me and they’re like they just give me respect.

Tersh Blissett: [00:18:41] That’s what’s up. I love that. I mean, it’s ultimately the giver’s gain. I mean, not that you aspire, you don’t give to receive, but it’s natural it’s a natural recursion. You know, the more you give, the more you receive for sure.

Carlos Reyes: [00:18:55] I think my upbringing has a lot to do with it. Yeah, I can see that purpose and mindset.

Tersh Blissett: [00:19:00] You know, I could totally see that. Yeah. For sure. Cool man. Well, I truly do appreciate you carving out some time for us and our followers to check you out and listen to you. And definitely, if you’re listening to this, watching this connect with Carlos, I mean, his story, we didn’t even go into much detail.
